In the workshop
In our cottage-based workshops on Carn Brea each staircase is made and assembled before being then taken apart for transportation and final reassembly on-site. We usually have a variety of staircases at various stages of assembly, as well as some completed models. You are very welcome to visit us and view our products - but please phone for directions first and to make an appointment. N.B. Satellite navigation systems and route-finding websites are not always accurate!
Almost any modifications or extra design features specified by you, the customer, can be incorporated into the final product including a variety of infill panels.
We have devloped a handrail that is sympathetic to the overall design of the circular spiral staircase. The rail is circular in section and moulded from solid wood. It is then joined together to form a smooth-flowing, continous handrail which is comfortable, practical and visually pleasing. A poorly-made or skimped handrail can spoil an otherwise well-made product.
All of our parts are numerically identified to allow any competent builder or carpenter to easily reassemble the stairs using only the basic of tools.
